OVERVIEW

Participants will learn the basics of puppeteering for television. With the use of hand puppets, they will be taught the basics of manipulation in front of a camera, lip-syncing, eye-focus, character, and movement using improvisation and song. Participants will be broken into groups to present an original sketch on camera using the skills they learned in class.

Connor Asher is a freelance puppeteer, puppet builder, and voice over artist with more than 10 years of experience with a passion to bring characters and stories to life.

Connor, trained by the Jim Henson Company, has worked on sets, shops and theaters across the country.

He discovered his passion for the arts at a young age and was primarily self-taught through trial and error, networking and taking classes.

From his studio in Kalamazoo, MI, he designs and builds puppets for all types of clients. Connor brings a wide range of skills and approaches to his work, and especially loves projects that combine multiple disciplines and require unique design solutions.

In 2014, Connor founded Creventive Puppet Company. Through Creventive, he has created and self-produced four of his own live touring theatrical puppetry productions performing for family audiences throughout the USA. In addition to shows, Connor instructs educational puppet performance and building workshops for children and adults, along with providing one-of-a-kind custom puppet building services - helping clients bring their visions to life, worldwide.

Notable clients include Jane Lynch, The Insurance King, Ed Bassmaster, InsureSmart Agency Inc., STORY CO, Magic Wheelchair, and The Marc Dunworth Foundation.
